How can I finance my participation?

The best right at the start: There are no fees for the YSM seminar and the YSM conference. However, we have to collect a small contribution for the catering during the breaks, for the conference dinner and for the city tour:

  • Catering during the Seminar (if you participate): 10,00 €,
  • Catering during the Conference: 15,00 €,
  • Conference Dinner location rent (if you participate): 5,00 €,
  • City Tour: 5,00–10,00 € (if you participate, the amount depends on the number of participants who choose this option – will be finalised after registration deadline).

Please pay in cash or via PayPal at the registration desk at the first day of the Seminar and Conference, respectively.

Hotel

Accommodation at the Acron Hotel Quedlinburg (within the reserved contingent) is free of charge. However, if you choose to book a single room or a room at another hotel, you will have to pay for it yourself and claim the money back from your project fund.

Travel

If you travel by institute car, there are no travel costs. If you have to travel by train, you can request cost coverage by emailing gff@  julius-kuehn.  de

Please take care not to submit a business trip application. All registered YSM participants have a general business trip authorisation. The BLE has been informed. If you have the necessary funds in your project, you can submit an application for travel expense reimbursement in the BLE travel portal after the end of the YSM with reference to the general business trip authorisation. 

We thank the JKI institutes that provide the financial resources for the seminar and we thank the Supporters and Friends (GFF) of the JKI, who sponsor the YSM conference!

Do I have to submit a business trip application?

Please take care not to submit a business trip application. All registered YSM participants have a general business trip authorisation. The BLE has been informed. If you have the necessary funds in your project, you can submit an application for travel expense reimbursement in the BLE travel portal after the end of the YSM with reference to the general business trip authorisation.

What do I have to do after my registration?

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to verify your account on the YSM website. Verification is important so that you can then log in and view your registration details.

After logging in to the YSM website, you will have the opportunity to submit your abstract for a talk or poster by 26 September 2025. However, a contribution is not a prerequisite for participation in the YSM. If you do not wish to present a talk or poster, you do not need to do anything else after registration.

After submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email. You can change the abstract at any time after logging in to the YSM website until 26 September 2025 at the latest. 

If more than 30 talks are submitted, the organising team will contact some participants at the beginning of October and ask them to present a poster instead.

If you have chosen a room at the Acron Hotel during your registration, you do not have to do anything else for the overnight stay. The organisation team will take care of sending the list of names to the hotel and paying the bill. 

At the start of the seminar or conference, we ask you to bring cash for the catering and, if applicable, for the conference dinner and the city tour. A bank transfer via PayPal will also be possible at the registration desk.

How do I become a member of the organizing team next year?

The YSM is traditionally organized by PhD students and young post-docs of the JKI. Thus, it is inherent that the organizing team changes from year to year. There is always advice available from the previous organizers so that the new team can build upon their experiences and on a collection of supporting material. If you are interested in being a part of next year’s organizing team, do not hesitate to contact any member of this year’s team.
