Outline and content of the seminar
Research data are among the most valuable assets in science. At the same time, researchers are faced with a growing number of internal and external requirements for handling these data, including legal obligations, funder-specific regulations, technical standards, and institutional data policies. Meeting these demands makes a systematic, sustainable, and FAIR-compliant approach to research data management essential.
This seminar introduces the principles and practices of research data management (RDM) and focuses on how research data can be efficiently and purposefully handled within the institute. RDM supports the entire research lifecycle – from project planning and data generation to documentation, storage, archiving, reuse, or deletion. Participants will gain an overview of how structured RDM helps ensure compliance, improve data quality, and facilitate long-term usability of research data. They will get familiar with guidelines and helpful tools supporting RDM recommended by the JKI and by FAIRagro (https://fairagro.net/), an initiative developing RDM tools and support for the agricultural disciplines.
